I have only played polymock a few times and well...fighting the same foe basically kinda sucks its all about who is quicker..the player or the NPC..I this it is a sad attempt at a mini game but w/e I don't play it and no one forces me so I am just giving my opinion on this matter which is polymock bites.

I finished polymock the other day, i am NEVER going to play it again, however i'm keeping the iboga piece in storage, because as soon as i sell it or something they're going to do something to polymock to make it a necessity, and i'll be without a gold piece
and the summon skills aren't THAT good anyway.

A Max rank Mursaat (or summonned with Signet of Illusions by a primary Mesmer) is quite an ally.

Don't forget that fun is relative. Just as you find it difficult and boring, someone else might feel its easy and a good break from regular PvE. You don't need those Summon skills, but if you want them, you HAVE to work for them.

Only character I play polymock with is my mesmer. Simply for the purpose of getting that spell. That and mesmers are the only class that can boost such PvE spells to their full power without a significant investment in time title grinding.

What work? You mean buy a gold Polymock from someone else and crush them? There's no work involved. Polymock is retardedly hard. Fighting a computer with interupts/blocking is bs, especially when your on a 200-300 ms lag.

Blarp can take his 3 elementals and shove 'em up his asuranhole. Three purples /w the ping and ai advantage over a human with a single purple and all whites.

I enjoyed polymock but thought it was far too easy and it is pointless doing it after you have beat everyone. I think there should be a polymock pvp implemented sometime soon.

I hate Polymock. But I don't have to play it so I'm not complaining. So what if I don't have any summoning spells? It's not like there aren't enough overpowered PvE-only skills already.......

polymock is not fun!
to all the people out there that find it annoying and hard - wtf did u want , make it too easy and it's no challenge . yes blarp was a pain in my ass but the key here is
patience
persistence
knowledge
btw just beat grulhammer with 350 ping with there 3 peice's
earth vs dredge
skale vs doylak
iboga vs dwarf ( ok , so i bought a peice , no regret's )
as for tactic's i used a different method , mine was -
polymock block
glyph of concentration
either 2nd or 3rd polymock skill
power drain
1st poly skill ( keep spamming this till poly block is recharged )
combination of the above with ether signet once ur energy hit's zero
yes it ain't easy , but PERSISTENCE PAY'S OFF !!!!!!!!!!
now if u don't mind , gonna go level my djinn up to level 20
like i said b4 , patience persistence and knowledge will help u beat this game
btw , to all u complaining about ping , try international district , if ur not already in that dis , for me has cut ping time's massively ( i'm in australia and in int dis my average ping is bout 200-250 )

I am yet to see anyone ingame selling any polymock pieces. I have asked in most capital locations and no one replies! Not to mention the high prices people would charge for them.

I never said persistance wouldnt pay off. Re-read my OP and you will see I clearly stated that if I kept at it, no doubt I would complete it.
The point is that its not fun to replay, at all IMO! It just gets more and more frustrating the more you try. Then once you do beat the foe, the reward for doing so is an anti-climax.
A tiny amount of rep points, a one off new polymock piece and then onto the next foe to fight!

If it was such a hassle to post in here, then why did you bother? I would hate to think I took up your precise time!

Hmmm... I like polymock. I also like the Norn Tournament, but I find the Norn tournament is a lot worse than Polymock.
Polymock - beat one enemy and gain some Asuran points and a game piece
Norn Tournament - beat one enemy and you are sent directly to the next opponent (nothing to show for it)
Polymock - finish the entire thing and you gain more skills (total enemies 6)
Norn Tournament - finish the entire thing and you gain a skill or two, an item (total enemies 5)
The stupid thing is, you lose, you start all over again for the Norn Tournament, unlike Polymock. You must pay 100g to enter the Norn Tournament, you pay nothing for the Polymock game.
If people want it to be fun, what do people find fun? I like Polymock because it is challenging, and it depends on a players' skill, not the character's skill bar. This is not like facing your doppleganger, where you can load your skill bar with nature spirits or pet skills and just hit space bar and have the enemy die. No fun there. You want a sense of accomplishment, do something where you can actually say, "yeah, I beat you at your own game! I win!" Farming for IDS, money, materials, doing runs, etc. Why do people do it? Because people find it easy and quick. Is it fun? Probably not, but who knows.
Personally I would have no problems selling my polymock pieces, even gold ones. The only reason why I would use my gold polymock is because after you beat them all, they up the challenge by requiring you to have 1 white, 1 purple and 1 gold. Each enemy is easy once you know their pattern.
I move around a lot with my characters, so I can avoid many attacks. Learn your enemy's spell order and you can stop them from hitting you with their most harmful spells.
Good luck to all those who have a hard time doing it. Only 2 characters that I have have beaten the polymockers (except my Rit still has 2 more to face, because I used the gold from my Monk to beat most of the other polymockers and now I can't face the last two for some reason - there is no quest for them ).
So I won't sell or give away any polymocks until I am sure that doing so will not screw anyone else.

Sad to say GW isn't on the top of my gaming list but when EoTN came out I had fun until I played Polymock...I really don't see the "fun" (as everyone claims) in that "fun game". Polymock is just who can click the fastest (the player or the Ai npc) no skill required...no thinking either to be done just mindless clicking to see who can click the same skills faster.Just my point of view/thoughts.

You do get SOME reputation points for Norn tourny, and don't forget the two heroes as well. There's also the token if you complete all the rounds.

I agree Polymock is not fun. The quests are incredibly annoying until I read the proper pieces and order you are supposed to use vs. every NPC, and then I beat them all on the first try. Still wasn't fun though. I only got all the quests done for the skills and then stopped. Definitely no reason to play Polymock beyond that.
They should have made it be turn-based. Orginally it was advertised as Asura chess. But chess is a turned-based game. Plus the rewards for winning in it(beyond the skill quests) aren't really worth it either and would also need to be fixed for it to be worth playing.

I only won the 100th time because I kept my first piece alive and had 2 to use up on his 3rd piece.
Now im on the second one and again its just not fun! I read all the magazine reviews saying how Polymock was like Pokomon and one of the best bits of GWEN... etc etc etc! Sorry but noo!
Its the most annoying aspect!
Ive also read all the things about "avoid projectiles", but there is virtualy no room to move. The perspective doesnt allow for you to easily see your character to move around and your having to watch alot of stuff on screan at one time. Its not like normal pvp or 1v1 where you have room to move.
I have no doubt that if I stick at it, I will eventually do it, but not after hours of screaming at the monitor!
I also know im choosing to do this and I dont have to, but Im wanting the summoning spells and its the only way I can get them. Im not saying they should remove the mini game, but maybe something needs tweaked to make it less frustrating (i.e hard) and more fun!
You basically know your stuffed the minute they other side gets 1 point before you! Yes I could buy a more powerfull piece for an edge, but NO one is selling them and no doubt theyd expensive.
Can we not just get the spells via a quest and not a 1v1 style format that not everyone enjoys?
|
Yep, that describes Polymock fairly well. Lots of mocking at the basic premis of the game, having fun.
To me there is very little fun in GWEN. I had no great expections, and I was still greatly disappointed. I think I will have some real fun and go see a dentist.
